Arrival and Planning

We are happy to assist you with the selection of the suitable arrival option for you. You have the following options:

Arrival by Plane

The most convenient and fastest way to arrive is usually by plane. Charter airlines fly directly to Heraklion or Chania from nearly all major airports in Europe all season long. In winter, the island can be reached with Aegean Airlines with a stopover in Athens or Thessaloniki. Flight time is about 2 – 3 hours, depending on the departure airport. A rental car can be provided from either the Heraklion or Chania airports and can be booked through us. We are happy to advise you on this topic.
Arrival by Ferry

The ferry is a great alternative to plane travel if you can take the time and you like to travel by sea and drive your own car once you are in Crete. Not only is the ferry set up like a comfortable, floating hotel but it also offers a unique experience that allows, among other things, the perception of remoteness of the southernmost island of Europe. From Venice or Ancona, you can take the ferry to Patras (from Ancona this takes about 22 hours, from Venice about 25 hours). Then it’s another three hour car ride to Piraeus. From there, the journey continues over night to Crete (duration about 5 – 7 hours). In terms of price, both options are about equal due to the fact that you wouldn’t need a rental car in Crete if you arrive by ferry.
